What is a “Longmont for Everybody?”
As Longmont continues to grow and evolve, we’re approaching a crossroads—one that will define who we are as a city for generations to come. We have three possible paths ahead of us. One leads to a version of Longmont that is reserved for the already-wealthy and well-established, where only those with means can afford to live comfortably, buy a home, or raise a family. Another leads us toward becoming a city of stark contrasts, where the gap between the haves and the have-nots grows wider, and too many of our neighbors are left behind.
But there is a third path—a Longmont for everybody.
This third path is the one Jake is committed to building. It’s a vision of Longmont where opportunity isn’t gated by income, where people from all walks of life can afford to stay, to contribute, and to thrive. It means creating a community where teachers, nurses, small business owners, and young families can afford to put down roots—not just scrape by. It means making smart, inclusive choices that reduce costs for working and middle-class families, expand access to early childhood education, and ensure our unhoused neighbors are treated with dignity and compassion. It means supporting small businesses by cutting unnecessary red tape while ensuring growth reflects our values and protects our quality of life.
Longmont has always been the working-class, diverse heart of Boulder County—a place where immigrants, tradespeople, educators, and dreamers built lives side by side. That spirit is still alive here, and we have a responsibility to protect it. A Longmont for Everybody honors that legacy while preparing for the future. It’s about meeting this moment with urgency, empathy, and clarity. It’s about protecting the soul of Longmont—our parks, our neighborhoods, our people—while building a sustainable future we can all be part of.
This isn’t just a campaign slogan. It’s a direction. It’s a promise. And it’s a choice we get to make together.
